After demitting her office as Judge of Delhi High Court, Hon’ble Justice Sangita Dhingra Sehgal, on 30.05.2020 joined Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission as its President.

Ø Posted as Additional Sessions Judge at Patiala House from 18.04.2000 till 16.08.2000 and dealt with cases of dowry and rape. Dealt with cases under Explosive Substance Act and the well-known ‘Lajpat Nagar Bomb Blast’ case.
Ø On 16.08.2000, was posted at Tis Hazari Court as Additional Sessions Judge–cum–Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.
Ø The bifurcation of Delhi into five zones took place during the tenure as the Additional Sessions Judge–cum–Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and the work of all the Metropolitan Magistrates of Delhi was rationalized to secure equal distribution of criminal cases in the Capital.
Ø Looked after the entire administrative work pertaining to all magistrates of Tis Hazari, Patiala House and Karkardooma courts and supervised functions of the entire Magistracy.
Ø Supervised the work of more than 110 metropolitan Magistrate in Delhi including that of Special Magistrates & Municipal Magistrates dealing with Traffic Challans and trying petty offences/cases under the Delhi Municipal CorporationAct.
Ø On 23.06.2003 was vested with the exclusive powers to deal with cases of Official Secrets Act. Important cases like that of Reliance Industries Limited, Iftikhar Gilani (Noted Journalist) were dealt with.
Ø As Chief Metropolitan Magistrate,Special Courts in jail were organizedfor the first time,for the under-trials languishing in jail for long and for those involved in petty offences.
Ø Selected as Secretary in the Press Council of India, a statutory body established by parliament under the Press Council Act, 1978 for the purpose of preserving the freedom of the press and of maintaining and improving the standards of newspapers and news agencies in India from November, 2003 to December,2004.
Ø In December, 2004, was appointed as the Member Secretary, Delhi Legal Services Authority, Patiala House Court, New Delhi and remained there till September, 2008.
DISTINCTIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS THE MEMBER SECRETARY, DLSA
Ø On 8th March, 2006, Delhi Legal Services Authority launched Mobile Legal Services for the first time which was inaugurated by Smt. Sheila Dixit, Hon'ble Chief Minister ofDelhi.
Ø On 10th March, 2006, Delhi Legal Services Authority opened a 24 Hrs. Permanent Legal Services Clinic, inaugurated by Sh. B. L. Joshi, Hon'ble Lt. Governor ofDelhi.
Ø Delhi Legal Services Authority for the first time startedSummer and Winter Internship Programme for law interns of various LawUniversities.
Ø On 10thNovember, 2006, Delhi Legal Services Authority celebrated its Silver Jubilee at India Gate Lawns, wherein Hon'bleDr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, President, Republic of India was the Chief Guest. Documentary and Multimedia Films were released.
Ø Delhi Legal Services Authority Awareness was spread through setting up of a Counter at the Delhi Pavilion IITF at Pragati Maidan. Kiosk was also set up for legal awareness at DelhiHat.
Ø On 20thJuly, 2007, Delhi Legal Services Authority inaugurated Legal Aid and Counseling Centre at Tihar Jail and also organized Legal Awareness Programme on Plea Bargaining in Tihar Jail for jail inmates.
Ø First ever Lok Adalat on Plea bargaining wasorganized.
Ø On 8th & 9th September, 2007, Delhi Legal Services Authority launched Legal Awareness Campaign on Traffic Rules and Regulations at Indoor Stadium, Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi.
Ø On 1stOctober, 2007, Delhi Legal Services Authority opened Mediation and Conciliation Centre at Rohini CourtComplex.
Ø On 15th & 16thDecember, 2007, Delhi Legal Services Authority organized seminar on “DOMESTIC VIOLENCE and FEMALE FOETICIDE” at Vigyan Bhawan, NewDelhi.
Ø On 17thNovember, 2007, Delhi Legal Services Authority organized SYMPOSIUM on “CHILD LABOUR–MORAL & LEGAL CONFLICTS”.
Ø On 18th February 2008, the Central Office of Delhi Legal Services Authority wasinaugurated.
Ø On 2nd & 3rd February, 2008, Delhi Legal Services Authority organized two day training programme on “PROTECTION OF WOMEN FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE” atV. K. Krishna MenonBhawan, New Delhi.
Ø On 2nd, 3rd & 4th May, 2008, Delhi Legal Services Authority organized All India Meet of Executive Chairpersons and Member Secretaries of State Legal Services Authority at Vigyan Bhawan, NewDelhi.
Ø On 6th & 7th June, 2008, Delhi Legal Services Authority organized Training Programme of advocates at India International Centre, Lodhi Road, NewDelhi.
Ø From 11th - 13th July,2008, Delhi Legal Services Authority in collaboration with International Bridges to Justice organized a Training Programme for Legal Services Advocates at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, NewDelhi.
Ø On return from deputation, was posted as Additional District Judge, Tis Hazari Court, Delhi from September, 2008 to September, 2010 and exclusively dealt with civil cases for Recovery, Permanent Injunctionetc.
Ø Posted as Special Judge (Prevention of Corruption Act) from September, 2010 and exclusively dealt with cases of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Dealt with very well-known case of “Cash for Vote Scam”. Also dealt with the case of Prevention of Corruption Act against accused Dr. Ravi Inder Singh, IAS, Director, Internal Security, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India.
Ø Posted as District & Sessions Judge, Saket in the year 2013 and dealt with different cases of Public Premises Act, Essential Services Maintenance Act, Essential Commodities Act and RCT besides doing various administrative duties pertaining to Saket District.
Ø Posted as the Registrar General, High Court of Delhi from April, 2013 to December, 2014 and additionally worked as the Registrar (Vigilance).
Ø Elevated to the Bench of High Court of Delhi as "Additional Judge" on 15th December, 2014 and became a Permanent Judge on 2nd June, 2016.
Ø Member of the Project Steering Committee (PSC) implemented by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India with support from United Nationals Development Programme (UNDP) which was aimed to strengthen access to justice particularly women, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, minorities.
Ø Remained Member of the Advisory Board setup under the National Security Act by the Government of India.
Ø Member of the Juvenile Justice Committeeand wasnominated to attend a programme titled `Regional Consultation on Strengthening Restoration and Rehabilitation of Children under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children), held inMaharashtra.
Ø Presided over the Tribunal setup under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 dealing with the validity of the declaration of Islamic Research Foundation as an Unlawful Association.

Ø In the year 1998, authored a book titled “An Exhaustive Guide to the Slum Area (Improvement & Clearance) Act, 1956 and an exhaustive Guide to the Slum Area (Improvement & Clearance) Rule, 1957”with a foreword by Hon’ble Justice R. C. Lahoti, Chief Justice, Delhi High Court.
Ø The second edition of “An Exhaustive Guide to the Slum Area (Improvement & Clearance) Act, 1956 and an exhaustive Guide to the Slum Area (Improvement & Clearance) Rule, 1957”was released in the year 2009, with a foreword by Justice T.S. Thakur, Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana HighCourt.
Ø In the year 2012, authored a book titled “Commentary on - The Legal Services Authorities Act”, with aforeword by Justice T. S. Thakur, Judge, Supreme Court of India which is a ready reference to provide free and competent legal services to weaker section of the society for securing justice.
Ø “Vidhik Sewa Pradhikaran Adhiniyam, 1987” a Hindi translation of the “Commentary on--The Legal Services Authorities Act” was published in 2016 with a foreword by Hon’ble Mr. JusticeT.S. Thakur, Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India.
Ø Authored a book titled ‘Woman Know Thyself’’ containing different laws relating to Women in India which was published in the year 2016 and released by Hon’ble Mr. Justice T.S. Thakur,Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India.
Ø "21stAnnual Intensive Study Programme for Judicial Educators" held at Halifax, Canada from 1stto 20thJune, 2014.
